Dreamscape: Image Post Production Session 2

Image
Session Notes Ever since the start of editing the collection of images from both train station shoots. The shoot with Mantas possessed both the most images and sharpest images for em to work with. Moreover by placing the photographs in an order that conveyed the transition of the character experiencing his small false awakening. However, after presenting these images to my colleagues which was wise since a fresh outlook was needed to improve the order of the images and rendering style of the images. For instance, after asking a colleague Cristina Pop for advice she stated to display the character falling asleep on the train before waking up in a coloured train environment although the character would still be featured in monochrome to display he is either not yet at peace or still not completely self ware before the apple is eaten. Furthermore if possible the best way to physically render these images would be to print them as a small photo booklet similar to those small c...

Dreamscape: Image Post Production Session 1

Session Notes The intensity of the sun during the shoot on Tuesday affecting the quality of some key images such as James eating the apple mentioned previously. Though, after deciding to paint over blurs or other visual scarring and use HDR to create a hyper-real graphic look. However, despite making use of tools in photoshop such as the "Unmask Sharpen" tool to as the name suggests increasing the contrast of the blurred image intensifying shadows and highlights.  (figure a) Figure A Though the original shoot with Mantas still featured the highest quality images so I may soon have to make use of the images collected from that day. Furthermore,I have also come to the realization that use of colours may not be enough to convey the narrative of the story effectively so I have used comic strips as inspiration and placed symbolic indicators such as the question mark to display the character's mindset in scenes such as when he discovers the emergency e...

Dreamscape: Scene Shoot: Final Session

Session Note Considering the time of the subject and I had on the train and the tedious camera settings. Moreover, I equipped myself with the small cannon compact camera as well as the Nikon d7200/ Furthermore, this time despite the first shoot producing high-quality images with the Canon DSLR camera this shoot captured most of the key scenes that were required to tell the story of my character, in this case, the key apple-eating epiphany moment. ... Dreamscape: Post Production

Session Notes After receiving both the raw photos from Mantas and the second shot. Using reference material from the character portraits from the Walking Dead and studying their shadow levels. Having these character portraits helped as I applied HDR toning to the photographs and made attempts at selective colouring key objects such as the emergency exit for the character to escape the dream. However, I did encounter a strange error of the raw files not opening in my version of Adobe Photoshop. Despite suspecting and researching that a plugin was out of date. Mainly the "Camera Raw" plugin. Dreamscape: Scene Shoot Session 2

Session Notes Ventured to the train station once more this time with James Campbell armed with a Nikon 7200. However, the train was intensely cramped and full as well as low lighting which made shooting challenging but a few key scenes came out in focus. The rest of the scenes such as the apple-eating moment will be repeated tomorrow. ... By Sebastian Jones

Concept Amendments

Session Notes Contemplated over switching the key colour in the dream sequences from purple to yellow. The reason for this is despite purple representing the pyschye, yellow not only is an existing colour used for sign warnings , but yellow lenses or the yellow spectrum light allows people to see sharply either at night or in general. Furthermore, once observing how many predatory animals such as the eagle possessed yellow iris. It lead to my conclusion of the character in my story gaining yellow eyes thus indicating when he can see through the yellow spectrum he is more visually aware of his environment and can find his escape out of the dream. ...
